1. Meet some of the best news designers in the world. 2. Experience sunshine, rain – or even snow! The weather in Oslo in April can be anything from sunny summer heat to winter storm. 3. Visit one or three of our vibrant capital’s more than 1000 different bars, restaurants and nightclubs. 4. Learn strategies for survival in the news business. 5. Enjoy the stunning Oslo Opera House. The prize winning building connects city and fjord, urbanity and landscape. The roof, made of Italian marble, is open to the public, and looks – and feels – like an iceberg rising from the fjord below. 6. Make new friends, and expand your professional network at the same time. 7. Take a stroll in the city that hosts the world’s most prestigious prize, the annual Nobel Peace Prize, and was home to one of the world’s most important writers, the playwright Henrik Ibsen. 8. See how Norway’s largest subscription newspaper, the award winning Aftenposten, works with a multimodal approach. 9. Maybe you’ll run into Aleksander Rybak, winner of the 2009 Eurovision Song Contest, who hails from Oslo. In fact, a few weeks after the conference – in May 2010 – the city will host the contest. 10. And of course, become a better visual journalist! And of course, become a better visual journalist!
